TEHRAN - Iran is coordinating efforts with Russia and Syria to compile a list of dissident and terrorist groups in Syria as demanded in the latest Vienna meeting on Syria, an official at the Iranian Foreign Ministry has said.

“It was emphasized in the Vienna meeting that all countries should present their list of terrorists and Jordan will collect the lists as a supervisor,” Mohammad Irani, director of the Foreign Ministry department for the Middle East and North African affairs, told ISNA in an interview published on Sunday.

He said countries such as Saudi Arabia and Jordan are attempting to collect the list of their desired groups as the Syrian dissidents to use it as a tool to reach their objectives in the Vienna III conference.

“Such measures are against the Vienna meeting declarations,” Irani asserted.

He called for a political solution to end the crisis in Syria and said that terrorist groups have made the situation complicated.

To end the conflict Syrian opposition groups should sit for talks with the government, therefore it is necessary to differentiate terrorists from opposition groups, he noted.
